Born into a clutch of fierce, territorial nagas guarding ancient ruins deep within a forgotten jungle, The Naga was always…different. While his siblings perfected their venomous strikes and honed their stealth, young Naga found himself drawn to the echoing acoustics of crumbling temples and the rhythmic chirping of jungle insects. He’d often be caught humming odd tunes, much to the exasperation of his more traditional kin.
As he grew, his unique talents became undeniable. He discovered he could mimic the calls of exotic birds, charm agitated beasts with soothing melodies, and even, to his surprise, influence the thoughts of lesser humanoids with his resonant voice. One day, a band of adventurous, if somewhat dim-witted, explorers stumbled upon his family's territory. While his siblings prepared to strike, he, adorned in a stolen (and slightly ill-fitting) human top hat and jacket from a previous, less fortunate adventurer, emerged.
He didn't attack. Instead, he wove a tale of the jungle's wonders and dangers, of hidden treasures and terrible curses, all set to an improvised melody that captivated the explorers. They, convinced they'd encountered a wise and ancient spirit, showered him with gold and trinkets before retreating, thoroughly entertained and utterly unharmed.
From that day on, knew his true calling. He wasn't a guardian of dusty ruins; he was a storyteller, a performer, a maestro of merriment! He adopted a more humanoid form, finding it easier to blend into the settlements he now frequented, though he always kept his stylish top hat and a perpetually dapper green suit as a nod to his true, serpentine nature. He travels from tavern to tavern, grand hall to humble campfire, spinning tales, enchanting audiences, and always, always seeking out new adventures to turn into his next grand ballad. He may still occasionally slither rather than walk, and his charming smile, but in his heart, he is a bard through and through, a true virtuoso of serpentine song and slithering stories.
