Whiskertin was not like the other members of his nomadic tabaxi tribe. While they prized stealth and the thrill of the hunt under the pale desert moons, Whiskertin found his joy in the warmth of the midday sun and the delicate art of pastry. As a kitten, he was often found napping in sunbeams, the scent of baking berries he’d ‘borrowed’ from nearby settlements clinging to his fur. His tribe, though bemused by his peculiar passions, indulged his eccentricities.
One particularly long summer, Whiskertin discovered a tattered book of human recipes left behind by traveling merchants. Intrigued, he began experimenting, trading small trinkets and his surprisingly delicious (if sometimes singed) creations for more ingredients. He fashioned his own rudimentary oven from sun-baked clay and spent hours perfecting his sun-dried fruit tarts and cream cheese swirls.
His fancy attire came later, inspired by the elegant but slightly rumpled appearance of a traveling dignitary who once sampled his elderflower scones. Whiskertin admired the man's confidence and the way his clothes seemed to announce his presence. Deciding that a dapper appearance would only enhance the enjoyment of his sun-baked delicacies, Whiskertin began to collect discarded finery from various settlements, tailoring them to fit his feline form. He believes a well-made pastry deserves to be presented by a well-dressed baker, especially when enjoyed under the glorious sun. He now travels the land, seeking the warmest spots and the finest ingredients, bringing a touch of unexpected elegance and the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods wherever he goes.
